The Look: Because Tom Ford’s spring 2018 collection featured sharp shoulders and crisp silhouettes, the designer told hairstylist Orlando Pita the hair shouldn’t be a distractor. “He wanted to be able to cut all the girls hair off. This was my solution. There’s no bun, there’s no chignon. It shouldn’t look like a hairdo,” Pita told ELLE.com. So models got wigs that were short on the sides and in back, and longer on top: “I wanted the hair to still look tough,” says Pita. And rather than fight each models’ natural texture, he embraced it, meaning some styles were soft and sculpted, while others felt piece-y and lived-in.
LOL: As for whether any of the girls were inspired by their new cropped wigs, well, kind of. “Kendall [Jenner] was saying, ‘Oh my god, I never thought I’d like my hair short because I’d look like my mother, but I don’t,'” Pita said.
