For Harry Styles, writing and producing his very first solo album was a transformative experience. Case in point: When he sat in on a gospel choir as they recorded vocals for his album and he lost his damn mind.

In his new Apple Music documentary Harry Styles: Behind the Album, Harry sits off to the side as a choir of 26 gospel singers belt out the most angelic harmonies. From the moment the choir sings their first collective note, Harry looks completely taken aback by how powerful they sound. He’s even more blown away by the fact that they’re singing a song he wrote.

“Having a song that I’d written and having these 26 gospel singers with a conductor and me sitting there — it just felt like it was growing into it’s own thing,” Harry shared of the emotional moment when he looked close to tears. “It was pretty amazing.”

So amazing, in fact, that Harry couldn’t help but run up to the extraordinary soloist at the end of the session and give her a well-deserved hug. Check out the moment below.
