Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, Prince William, and Kate Middleton had their first ever double work date at the Royal Foundation Forum today—a royal engagement that involved them taking questions from BBC presenter Tina Daheley during a panel. Markle, who will become a patron of the foundation with her fiancé Harry and his brother and sister-in-law after her wedding to Harry in May, got to speak about her work focus: women’s empowerment. Markle was all passion and charisma in the footage of her talk:

“I hear a lot of people speaking about girls’ empowerment and women’s’ empowerment,” Markle started. “You’ll often hear people say well, you’re helping women find their voices. And I fundamentally disagree with that because women don’t need to find their voices, they have a voice. They need to be empowered to use it, and people need to be encouraged to listen. And I think right now in the climate that we’re seeing so many campaigns—I mean, #MeToo and TimesUp—there’s no better time than [now] to really continue to shine a light on women feeling empowered and people really helping to support them…It [the spotlight] makes such a tremendous difference.”

“So yeah, I guess we wait a couple months and then we can hit the ground running,” she said, with Daheley saying “wedding first”. At that point, Markle laughed, smiled, and had a sweet moment touching Prince Harry’s leg.

Markle’s remarks about #MeToo and Time’s Up are particularly notable as royals generally don’t make political statements and cannot show political affiliation or biases as it’s against protocol. It’s for that reason outlets speculated that Kate Middleton didn’t wear all black to the BAFTAs earlier this month with the other women attendees in support of Time’s Up. Middleton wore a dark green Jenny Packham gown with a black sash—the sash perhaps a little nod to the movement.

Sartorially today, Markle and Middleton both wore blue. Markle was in a navy Jason Wu belt satin wrap dress with her hair down.

Middleton, who sat next to Markle on stage, wore a blue Seraphine maternity dress. She also talked about her interests for the foundation and better informing the public about mental health care and statistics:

Of course, photos from the event include plenty of Kate-Meghan moments. They laugh together on stage and smile in the audience.

This isn’t the first time the four have been photographed together. They all attended Christmas service in Sandringham in December. But it marks the start of their philanthropic careers together and hints at the warm dynamic between the four in the months to come. Exciting stuff!

Markle and Harry will be out again for their next engagement in Birmingham on International Women’s Day, March 8. They’ll “learn more about the work of two projects which support young people from the local community,” the Royal Twitter announced. “The visit comes on International Women’s Day, and the couple will firstly attend a @Stemettes event at Millennium Point which aims to inspire the next generation of young women to pursue careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths. Prince Harry and Ms. Markle will then visit Nechells Wellbeing Centre to join The Royal Foundation’s Birmingham @WeAreCoachCore apprentices as they take part in a training masterclass.”
