Earlier this month, Alexander Wang announced he was abandoning the traditional fashion schedule, opting to show his new collections in June and December, with drops through out the year. His show last night was his last at “fashion week” as we’ve come to know it (though don’t put it past Wang to spur a shift in the industry). And it was a mic drop.

Wang showed his fall 2018 collection on a sterile empty floor in the old Condé Nast office building at 4 Times Square. Show goers sat in cubicles. ’90s-era Alex Wang Group corporate logos were the finishing touch.

And thus the scene was set for Wang’s subversive take on office dressing: Boss bitches with a serious DGAF attitude.

Models stomped the runway to a soundtrack of pulsating beats mixed with the click-clack of heels running across the floor wearing Wang’s ’80s-inspired take on power dressing: blazers with sharp shoulders, meeting-ready trousers, and cable knit sweaters. Accessories included claw clips for your hair, sling-back pumps, sequined lunch bags, and Matrix-style sunglasses.
